For Academic Year 2025-2026
Business of Art and Design Department
Visiting Full-Time Faculty
Appointment with Benefits
The Business of Art and Design Department at Ringling College seeks a Visiting Full-Time Faculty of
Creative Entrepreneurship to teach related courses and participate in the launch of new entrepreneurial initiatives (curricular and
co-curricular offerings) that will expand access to entrepreneurial skill development for all students no matter their major course of
study.
The Visiting Full-Time Faculty of Creative Entrepreneurship will join the Business of Art and Design faculty team to further
advance students’ preparation for entrepreneurial creative careers in the creative industries.
The Business of Art and Design
major at Ringling College integrates the disciplines of design, strategy, and business management. The curriculum emphasizes entrepreneurial
thinking, design research, creative project management, brand strategy and design, and cross-disciplinary collaboration. Courses are
designed to be practical and experiential, equipping students for success through real-world, client-driven projects that put theory into
practice. Program alumni find success across industries as producers, production coordinators, strategists, creative directors, and
marketing managers at top companies including Dreamworks, Pixar, Netflix Animation, Blue Mammoth Games, Deloitte Digital, Game Developers
Conference, and more. The Business of Art and Design Department also offers a minor that provides students of all disciplines with an
introduction to creative business management and entrepreneurship.
Business of Art and Design faculty are highly involved in INDEX,
Ringling College’s experiential education initiative that provides enrolled students with the opportunity to gain professional
experience by connecting them with leading organizations to solve real-world business and design challenges. The College is committed to the
promise that every student enrolled will have the opportunity to work with a real-world client on a real-world project by the time they
graduate. The INDEX initiative represents the College’s long-standing priority and purpose: to focus on students’ futures in the
creative industries and empower them to thrive as creative leaders.
The Visiting Full-Time Faculty of Creative Entrepreneurship will
teach courses related to entrepreneurship at the highest quality. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of
entrepreneurship and new venture creation, with a particular focus on the creative industries. They will be able to effectively teach
courses related to entrepreneurship to students from a variety of design and studio disciplines (e.g., design, film, illustration) who plan
on pursuing an entrepreneurial career path, either as the founder of their own small business or in a freelance capacity navigating the gig
economy.
It is expected that, although candidates may have a more traditional business education background, they will be able to
engage with visual learners and contextualize course concepts by illustrating the practical applications within creative industries and
arts/design entrepreneurship. They will demonstrate an ability to use a range of engaging, student-centered instructional strategies and
tools to design and deliver course content.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate enthusiasm for working with an exceptional
population of students from around the world and the ability to foster a positive learning environment built on real-world knowledge and
skill.
While prior teaching experience is preferred, applicants with no prior teaching experience may be considered if their
professional practice aligns with the qualifications listed above.
A portion of this position includes participation in the
development of new and emerging entrepreneurial programming aimed at expanding access to entrepreneurship and business skill development for
all students at the college. This may include the development of new curricular programs, such as courses for the new entrepreneurship
certificate, co-curricular offerings, program assessment, and relevant accreditation activities. Successful candidates will offer strategic
input on the direction of this developing program.
Ideal candidates will be open to exploring innovative ways to craft new courses,
experiential learning opportunities, and special projects that empower students and enhance their Ringling College education.
This is
a visiting full-time appointment with benefits for the academic year 2025-26 with an anticipated start date of August 2025. The position may
be renewed for the following year given satisfactory performance and funding.
Normally, full-time teaching is three courses per
semester (equivalent to 18 credits per year); however, teaching responsibility for this appointment will be reduced in the first year due to
the requested leadership in the development of new curricular and co-curricular offerings mentioned above.
As such, the Visiting
Faculty of Creative Entrepreneurship will teach four courses per year (equivalent to twelve credits per year) within the Business of Art and
Design Department. This is a reduced teaching load in order to develop a new course in the fall semester that will be piloted in the spring
semester. The service period is the academic year beginning the fall semester of 2025 through spring 2026.
This position reports to
the Department Head for the Business of Art and Design and participates in regular faculty meetings as well as other institutional committee
meetings as requested.
All Ringling College faculty are expected to be on campus to teach courses in person and participate in
institution-related duties. All full-time faculty are expected to contribute to the life of the College through cross-programmatic
collaboration, committee work, recruitment efforts, community engagement, and other institution-related duties. Ringling College has a
supportive, collegial faculty, a curriculum that strongly values excellence and a robust support system dedicated to using the most current
technology.
The salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience. Standard faculty benefits
