Functions:
This position is contingent on the availability and continuation of external-funding and/or contract. As such, any
offer of employment may be withdrawn or employment ended in the event the external funding and/or contract ceases or is reduced.
1.
Works with the lead DIAL Clinical faculty member to develop and administer an intake process for screening individuals to determine
eligibility for representation by students and/or the staff attorney(s) in the DIAL Clinic.
2. Works with the lead DIAL Clinical faculty
member and other law school administrators to develop and coordinate appropriate community outreach and engagement related to the subject
matter and client needs served by the DIAL Clinic; collaborates with NSU schools and programs, community partners, the Taft Foundation, and
similar law clinics outside NSU; and presents regular conferences and external educational programs on topics related to the DIAL Clinic
subject matter and client needs.
3. Assumes primary responsibility for the DIAL Clinic cases and undertake sole legal responsibility
between academic terms and when students are otherwise unavailable; appears as attorney practitioner for DIAL Clinic clients and/or
supervisor for students representing individuals in administrative or judicial forums.
4. Supervises the DIAL Clinic paralegal and other
staff attorneys; supervises case management in the DIAL Clinic; and supervises the work of student interns and post-graduate “incubator”
lawyers.
5. Reports on DIAL Clinic operations, budget, outreach, and impact to the College of Law, Taft Foundation, and other relevant
constituencies.
6. Oversees and reviews, in conjunction with the paralegal, documents prepared by DIAL Clinic students.
7. Evaluates
DIAL Clinic student performance in interacting with clients and handling client matters.
8. Works with other law school administrators
to develop a list of appropriate referral agencies within or outside of the university for individuals who cannot be served by the DIAL
Clinic.
9. Assists with curriculum design and implementation of the DIAL Clinic; teach classroom components of DIAL Clinic
curriculum.
10. Engages in other tasks as assigned by the Dean or other supervisor.
