About the University

The University of Tennessee Southern (UT Southern) is a small public
university established in 2021 through the acquisition of Martin Methodist College, founded in 1870. Located in Pulaski, UT Southern stands
as the fourth undergraduate campus in the UT System. It is the only public four-year institution of higher education between Chattanooga and
Memphis, and situated along Tennessee’s southern border, the campus is conveniently located about 70 miles south of Nashville and 40 miles
north of Huntsville, Alabama. The over 1,000 students enrolled at UT Southern enjoy a private, small-college experience at an affordable,
public-university cost. Low student-teacher ratios, high classroom personalization, and the resources of a land-grant university system are
among the many advantages students experience. Nearly 30 academic programs are available through the schools of business, education, arts
and humanities, mathematics and sciences, nursing, and social sciences. The UT Southern Firehawks, competing in the Southern States Athletic
Conference, have 19 nationally competitive athletic teams. Both the women’s and clay target programs have recently won national
championships.

The Opportunity

The University of Tennessee
Southern enthusiastically invites applications for the role of Registrar. UT Southern seeks an experienced and highly effective leader who
will be responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the University’s academic records and student information. Reporting to
the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, the Registrar will serve as a vital contributor and member of the Provost’s Council.
This is a full-time, in-person position.

Duties and Responsibilities

Primary duties and responsibilities
include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Collaborate with the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs;
• Supervise and
  evaluate the Registrar’s Office staff;
• Organize and administer the records and registration functions, including transcript
  evaluations, and provide maximum service to students while ensuring efficient and effective workflow;
• Responsible for collecting,
  recording, maintaining, and reporting of student records within FERPA guidelines, e.g., grades, registration data, transcripts, mid-term
  verification, athletic eligibility, and associated audits.
• Provide leadership and develop appropriate recommendations for the
  implementation of related technology application in support of enhanced services offered through the Registrar’s Office;
• Develop
  and administer the registrar’s budget;
• Problem solve the research, analysis, and resolution of student disputes as they relate to
  records and registration;
• Collaborate with administrators, faculty, IT, and others to facilitate and improve services to students,
  including registration/records policy questions;
• Serve as ex-officio member of Curriculum and Academic Policy Committee;
• Maintain the academic calendar and academic catalog;
• Certify graduates have met degree requirements and issue diplomas;
• Data Analytics – analyze and provide data reports related to student records;
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and
  institutional regulations and policies;
• Monitor the overall integrity of data, complying with state and federal requirements and
  taking appropriate steps to correct data discrepancies when noted;
• Work with areas of the university responsible for data input to
  improve the process for collecting and inputting accurate data into the data systems;
• Serve as the IPEDS Keyholder;
• Coordinate dual enrollment with admissions, local high schools, and the academic schools of the University; and
• Maintain security
  of all student records in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) of 1974 as
  amended.

• Proven record of successful supervisory experience in a people-oriented environment.
• Demonstrated understanding of

• Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills;
• An
  understanding of and commitment to the strictly confidential nature of the position;
• Strong commitment to excellence and

• Robust understanding of higher education;
• Record of
  fostering positive working relationships with faculty, staff, and stakeholders;
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, an
  advanced degree is preferred

  Plan; and
• At least 3 years of direct experience in a Registrar’s Office or 5 years in a related
