Organization: Main OR – PACU Job Summary: JOB SUMMARY Performs work activities of the Perioperative department, which include transport of patient, equipment and supplies to various patient care areas with occasional guidance. . POSITION HOURS 11 a.m. – 9:30 p.m. DEPARTMENT SUMMARY We care for adult patients who electively or emergently are having surgery. Our patients may be having simple procedures that allow them to go home the same day or may be undergoing complex surgeries that will require them to be cared for in an intensive care setting. Surgery is a unique place in healthcare. After surgery, patients’ lives are changed. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * Transports patients to various areas by stretcher, wheelchair or bed. * Delivers and retrieves transportation equipment as requested. * Utilizes resources to ensure a safe and efficient patient throughput. * Responsible for inventory management: allocation and cleaning of relevant patient equipment, instruments, and supplies. * Provides assistance in medical emergencies. * Assists in preparing the room for procedures to meet special equipment needs. * The responsibilities listed are a general overview of the position and additional duties may be assigned. Responds to customers with an appropriate level of urgency, energy, persistence and tenacity. * Dispatch (Fundamental Awareness): Has limited experience, training, direct exposure, or past experience working with dispatch. * Medical Equipment Knowledge (Fundamental Awareness): Awareness of the capabilities of the specific medical equipment and its characteristics. Able to use the medical equipment to accomplish very basic tasks associated with the specific devices.
