*Expected Daily Work Hours: 8:00am – 5:00pm *Expected Weekly Work Schedule: Monday – Friday

* College offices are normally open from 8:00 AM until 5:00PM, Monday through Friday. However, due to the nature of responsibility to the student body, individual offices or departments may have operating hours that extend beyond this period and may include evening or weekend hours. Non-exempt employees will normally work 8 hours per day. Overtime (any hours more than 40 per week) for non-exempt employees is required to be approved, in advance by the department supervisor. Exempt employees will typically work at least 40 hours per week and such additional time as may be reasonably required to fulfill the obligations of their position description. Such additional work may include evenings and weekends and should be described in this document.

Summary of this position:

The Assistant Athletic Coach is to assist the Head Coach in all assigned and/or auxiliary duties in their respected sports program. This position is a Campus Security Authority (CSA) as defined by the Clery Act. Assist the head coach with instructing players in the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport. Assess player’s skills, monitor players during competition and practice, and keep the head Coach informed of the athletic performance of the students.

Minimum Qualifications Required: (please be specific and respond to every question; indicate none if not applicable)

Education required to ensure success in this position:

• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university is preferred.

Experience required to ensure success in this position:

• 2 years of experience and/or training in a higher education setting.

Special skills, knowledge, and abilities:

• Knowledge of and commitment to NCAA rules.
• Ability to perform basic math.
• Able to read and interpret documents, manuals, and instructions.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, and diagram form.
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
• Able to write routine reports and other correspondence.

License, certification, or registration necessary:

• A valid Tennessee Driver’s License.

Physical requirements:

• Ability to navigate campus/public buildings and grounds.
• Ability to kneel, crouch, walk, sit, and handle objects.
• Employees must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
• Specific vision requirements, such as close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.
• Ability to travel for work-related activities.
• Ability to work evening and weekend hours.

Environmental conditions:

• The noise level in the work environment is usually load.
• Employees are frequently exposed to outside weather conditions.

Ability to operate the following vehicles or equipment:

• Seasonal work performed during the sport’s specific season.
• Coaching effectively in practice and competition, specifically the vertical jumps.
• Recruiting qualified student-athletes.
• Maintains office hours as assigned by Head Coach.
• Promoting an atmosphere of compliance and student-athlete academic performance.
• Attends and administers all practices, meetings, and athletic contests.
• Engaging the campus and local community by building relationships with constituent group members and by personal and team participation in community service activities.
• Select and maintain all equipment and gear.
• Attend all practices, meetings, and athletic contests.
• Assists in the recruitment process for all prospective student athletics.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
