Operations Administrator, Associate Contract

Job Summary

In collaboration with the Department Head, this position plays a pivotal role in supporting the department’s operational efficiency, student engagement, and alignment with university strategic goals.

The primary responsibilities include overseeing scheduling processes as Schedule Deputy, coordinating online and Purdue Indianapolis programs to enhance accessibility and revenue generation, and following Curriculog processes to ensure timely curriculum updates and compliance. This role is integral to recruitment efforts, actively participating in events and engaging with prospective students to promote the Department of Statistics. Additionally, this role will coordinate and oversee departmental activities related to faculty, departmental and university committees, alumni, visitors, professional society meetings and events, and broader college and university engagements. Through these core functions, this position helps streamline departmental operations, improve student outreach, and maintain the integrity of academic offerings.

What We’re Looking For:

Education and Experience Required:

• Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a relevant field such as statistics, mathematics, business administration, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience in an academic or administrative role, ideally within a university setting, with proven experience in scheduling, curriculum management, or student services also required

Preferred:

• Familiarity with academic scheduling systems, course catalog management, and university processes; experience with software tools like Qualtrics and Curriculog.

Skills Needed:

• The ideal candidate for this position should possess strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and coordinate complex schedules while maintaining meticulous attention to detail
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential to serve as an effective liaison between faculty, students, and department leadership, as well as to represent the department within university and college committees
• The role requires robust interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with diverse groups, including faculty, staff, students, and external partners, fostering a positive and supportive environment
• Analytical skills are also crucial, as the candidate must be capable of gathering and interpreting data to support departmental decision-making and strategic planning
• Additionally, the candidate should have adept problem-solving skills to address scheduling, student, and departmental challenges with flexibility and resourcefulness
• Administrative skills are important for managing tasks like documentation, reporting, and overseeing curriculum updates with accuracy and efficiency
• Finally, technical proficiency with digital tools and software relevant to academic administration, including Microsoft Office Suite, Curriculog, and Qualtrics, is necessary, along with the adaptability to learn and utilize new systems as needed
