Position Summary
The Indiana
University School of Public Health-Bloomington (SPH-B) invites applications for an open-rank, non-tenure-track (NTT; lecturer or clinical)
faculty position in the Department of Kinesiology. We seek individuals passionate about our mission to promote health for
all members of society through impactful teaching and mentoring, excellence in research, and service to the university, profession, and the
community. This 10-month appointment would ideally start August 1, 2025, although an earlier or later start date is negotiable. Applications
received by December 1, 2024, will be given full priority consideration, and applications will be accepted until the position is

The SPH-B, located in the heart of campus, is comprised of over 200 faculty across five departments and is one of the most diverse faculties
of any school of public health in the nation, with 39% of current tenure-track/tenured faculty being scholars from traditionally
underrepresented minority groups. In 2022 and 2023, Indiana University Bloomington was honored with the Higher Education Excellence in
Diversity Award. Continuing the momentum of hiring over 60+ outstanding faculty over the last two years, the SPH-B is launching another wave
of faculty recruitment.The Department of Kinesiology recently celebrated its 75th Anniversary and has consistently been highly ranked by the
National Academy of Kinesiology. The Kinesiology faculty, (~50% NTT faculty), is a talented, productive, and collegial team, united by a
shared interest in creating and translating knowledge in human movement science and practice, and sport management. With Kinesiology being
one of the largest departments at Indiana University Bloomington, our faculty educate, mentor, and serve ~2,900 students enrolled in our BS,
MS, and PhD degree programs.

Qualifications
Qualifications: Successful candidates for a Clinical position must hold a doctoral degree in
kinesiology, exercise science or a closely related field (e.g., physiology, medicine, public health, physical therapy, etc.) whereas
candidates for a Lecturer position, must hold, at a minimum, a master’s degree with professional experience in the field, with academic
training being from an accredited educational institution. A firm commitment to the role of diversity in all aspects of education and
service is essential. Candidates must have teaching experience at the undergraduate, graduate, and/or professional level. Good interpersonal
skills, effective communication skills, and the ability to work cooperatively and congenially within a diverse faculty are also critical for
success.

Responsibilities and Opportunity: The Department of Kinesiology at Indiana University invites applicants with experience in
applied sub-disciplines within kinesiology to apply for our NTT lecturer/clinical faculty position. Responsibilities may include teaching
courses in 1) applied and clinical exercise science, 2) physical activity behavior, interventions, and health coaching, 3) strength and
conditioning, and/or sport performance. NTT faculty in the Department of Kinesiology are expected to contribute to the overall academic
excellence of the department primarily through teaching and secondarily through service, including academic program delivery (e.g.,
internship coordination) and community outreach (e.g., experiential/service-learning courses). Appointment as a clinical NTT faculty will
require professional experience in the field.Notably, NTT faculty have an opportunity for promotion and advancement from a) Lecturer to
Senior Lecturer and ultimately Teaching Professor or b) Clinical Assistant Professor to Clinical Associate Professor and ultimately Clinical
Professor. This position is located on the campus of Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, and successful candidates are expected to
work on the Bloomington campus to allow full engagement with the department, school, campus, and community.
