SELECTION PROCESS

This position performs its duties on the Kentfield and off-site, so if not already residing within the Bay Area, the successful candidate must be willing to relocate.
First-round interviews for this position will take place remotely, via Zoom, in mid-to-late March. Candidates forwarded as finalists will be invited to our Kentfield campus for a final interview and teaching and/or coaching demonstration with students in April.

OVERVIEW
The faculty member, under the direction of the Director of Student Services – Kinesiology & Athletics, shall be responsible for teaching assigned kinesiology, athletics, and health education classes, offering a diverse and fulfilling teaching experience. The classes the instructor may be asked to teach may include, but are not limited to: Aerobic Fitness, Baseball, Basketball, Exercise Science, Fitness, Mat Pilates, Soccer, Sports Conditioning, Sports Nutrition, Strength Training, Swimming, Tennis, Volleyball, Yoga, and Zumba. This varied curriculum enables the faculty member to make a meaningful impact on students’ academic and athletic development. In addition, the faculty member will serve as the Head Coach for the Women’s Basketball program.
Moreover, to enhance and support the coaching staff’s capabilities, funding is allocated for seasonal assistant coach(es), which also helps to create an environment where each student-athlete can thrive and reach their full potential.
Teaching and coaching assignments may include day, evening, and weekend hours, and may be on-campus, online, hybrid, and/or off-campus.

BARGAINING UNIT, TENURE & RETIREMENT PLAN
UPM – Full-time Faculty:
Employees in this position classification are represented by the United Professors of Marin (UPM/AFT 1610). Faculty members are required to comply fully with the United Professors of Marin Collective Bargaining Agreement, including payment of union dues, contributions to California State Teachers’ Retirement System (CalSTRS) and any other required contributions if applicable. General information regarding rights and responsibilities under the Agreement can be found in the Collective Bargaining Agreements section located on the Human Resources website.
Tenure Eligibility for Probationary Contract Faculty:
Employees in this position classification are considered Probationary Contract Faculty. Faculty members must receive satisfactory performance evaluations for four (4) academic years to obtain tenure status as set forth by Education Code Section 87600 et seq. For the purposes of this provision, an academic year is July 1 through June 30. General information regarding rights and responsibilities under the Agreement can be found in the Collective Bargaining Agreements section located on the Human Resources website.
SALARY INFORMATION
FLSA Status: Exempt
Please refer to the United Professors of Marin (UPM/AFT) salary schedule in the Classification & Compensation section of the Human Resources web site. Step 14 is the highest entering step for probationary contract faculty new to the District. Salary placement is non-negotiable and is dependent upon verified background and experience. Full-time faculty hired mid-academic year must complete three (3) semesters before becoming eligible for salary step advancement.
