The Department of Humanities at Flagler College invites applications for the appointment of Director/Assistant Professor of the Frank D. Upchurch Pre-Law Program starting in August 2025.
All courses are taught at our campus in downtown St. Augustine, FL. This is a full-time (4/4 load), on-site faculty position. Salary and benefits are commensurate with experience.
The Director of the Pre-Law Program is a member of the faculty who oversees the program, and efforts to develop it. The Director will report directly to the Department Chair. The primary duties and responsibilities of the Director include:
- Communicate program needs and priorities to the Department Chair.
- Formulate plans and establish goals for improving the program in cooperation with the Department Chair.
- Provide advising and mentorship to students in the program.
- Manage/direct the Mock Trial Team
- Assist the Department Chair with program assessments, instructor evaluations, preparation of class schedules, and other responsibilities upon request.
- Collect and assume oversight of course syllabi, ensuring that each conforms to College requirements; these are submitted to the Department Chair.
- Assist the Office of the Registrar in verifying that candidates for graduation have satisfied program-specific requirements for graduation.
- Recruit/manage adjunct faculty
- Manage/oversee student internships
- Assist/Advise students with Law School applications
- Assume other responsibilities as directed by the Department Chair or School Dean.
Ideal candidates will also contribute to the College’s Core experience and Honors programs, participate in the life of the department and on-campus events and serve on college committees. Future colleagues must demonstrate an ability and commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching, mentoring, and conducting undergraduate research including supervising independent studies (as needed).
Flagler College is an independent, co-educational college with an enrollment of over 2,100 students. The College is located in historic St. Augustine, Florida, approximately 35 miles south of Jacksonville and 55 miles north of Daytona Beach.

Candidates must hold a Juris Doctorate or terminal degree in a relevant field (or have a documented degree completion date prior to appointment).
