About the Position: The Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering and Engineering Management (ISEEM) at The
University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) invites applicants for the position of Department Chair. The candidate is expected to excel in
Industrial Engineering/Modern Manufacturing, Systems Engineering, or Engineering Management. The successful candidate is to be hired at the
rank of Professor or Associate Professor with tenure, depending on their demonstrated experience in research, teaching, and service. The
successful candidate must have earned a PhD in Industrial Engineering or an allied discipline such as Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
with a significant research emphasis in Manufacturing, Quality Control, Systems Engineering, Engineering Management, or a closely
related field. We seek a candidate with a strong, well-established research program and administrative experience.
About the
Department: The Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering and Engineering Management offers BS, MSE, and PhD degrees in
Industrial Engineering, with graduate focuses in Industrial Engineering, System Engineering, and Engineering Management. In addition, the
department offers an MSOR degree in Operation Research. The department currently has six tenured/tenure-earning faculty, one clinical
faculty, and one lecturer. The enrollment within the department is about 135 undergraduate students and 170 graduate students. The
faculty’s research strengths are Computational Design, Systems Engineering, Human-System Integration, LEAN Manufacturing, Model-Based
Design, Digital Engineering, and Digital Twins. Current and previous faculty funding sources include NASA, DOD, the US Army, the Alabama
Department of Transportation, and industry.
About the College: The College of Engineering is comprised of five
departments and has the largest enrollment of the university’s five academic colleges. The research focus in the college includes
three of several National Academy of Engineering (NAE) grand challenge problems – secure cyberspace, restore and improve urban
infrastructure, and engineer tools of scientific discovery. Our strategic Flight Plan 2032 seeks to enhance student-centered
teaching and learning focused on student success and promote basic and applied research while engaging the local and regional community
through outreach and workforce development.
