Essential Job Functions
The GEAR UP project is a federal grant program which currently serves approximately
30,000 students, their families, and all staff of 17 rural school districts in western North Carolina. The Data Management Specialist serves
as a key member of evaluation functions of GEAR UP, ensuring that the data collected for the project is collected, cleaned, and stored
securely and accurately.

The Data Management Specialist will support GEAR UP administratively by managing the inflow of all GEAR UP
data, secure upload and storage into a custom database, allowing for improved accuracy of reporting.

This role requires strong
computer skills, especially in Microsoft Word and Excel as well as the entire Google suite (especially Sheets, Docs, and Forms). In
addition, the Grants Management Specialist must have experience working with databases and statistical software (e.g. SAS, SPSS, R, Python,
etc.).

This position will be responsible for:

• preparing spreadsheets for database imports
• running reports for
  database exports
• analyzing a variety of spreadsheets to note trends and progress
• quality control audits to ensure accurate
  data, etc.
• responsible for keeping the GEAR UP team informed about the status of current data projects and notifying leadership of
  any trends or issues

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree and 2+ years of experience related to the area
  of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited
  institutions.
• Experience working on evaluation of federal grant projects.
• Experience working with custom databases.

Work Schedule/Hours: Mon-Fri 8:00am – 5:00pm with occasional nights and weekends as needed.
Anticipated Hiring Range:
$51,285 – $54,874
