Schedule: Full Time Shift : Monday – Friday 8:30am 5 pm The role you’ll contribute: Cancer care scheduling is complex, requiring unique training to ensure treatments are accurate. Under general or direct management by Manager, the Cancer Institute Site Scheduler is part of a site team responsible for organizing patient schedules for the Ambulatory Infusion Center (AIC)/ Radiation Oncology/CRU(Research). This position reviews orders and authorizations to establish accurate calendars for patients. The Cancer Institute Site Scheduler works with internal andexternal physician’s offices, including escalations from inpatient services, radiation, research and home infusion, to evaluate and verify order accuracy. The Cancer Institute Site Scheduler will work with Consumer Access Specialists to accurately gauge authorized periods of patient treatment and ensure patient treatment remains within period to avoid undue financial burden on patient. This position is able to work with numerous Ambulatory Infusion Center locations, nursing staff, radiation oncology staff, physician’s offices, and relatable departments while multi-tasking performance and accuracy within a fast-paced environment. The Cancer Institute Site Scheduler provides specialized instructions for all exams and procedures while facilitating directions to patients, facilities, and departments. The position upholds the highest customer service standards while working with the most sensitive cases and patients. The Cancer Institute Site Scheduler adheres to AdventHealth Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. The value you’ll bring to the team: Collaborates primarily with oncology physician offices, oncology Infusion Centers, Radiation Oncology offices or directly with patients to schedule Infusion Center/Radiation Oncology patients, negotiating date and time, and avoiding resource conflicts (chairs, rooms, nurses, equipment). • Works closely with the Infusion Center and Radiation Oncology leaders or charge nurses to schedule and maximize utilization of nursing/Technician’s time, productivity and resources Performs this task in a timely manner. Coordinates special procedure needs with appropriate departments and staff, as well as external resources. • Assess and understand patient acuity based on diagnosis and visit reason and calculate time necessary for each treatment based on time detailed on order or using investigative skills and inquire with nursing staff, pharmaceutical staff, radiation staff or physician’s office .• Ensures patients who are starting chemotherapy or radiation therapy are appropriately scheduled for education regarding treatment prior to their first appointment. • Ensures patients requiring labs prior to treatment are appropriately scheduled to ensure their treatment appointment is not delayed. The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed : Minimum qualifications : High School Grad or Equiv and 1 years experience Preferred qualifications: • One year of direct Patient Access experience • One year of relevant healthcare experience • One year of call center experience • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or in industry-related field This facility is an equal opportunity employer and complies with federal, state and local anti-discrimination laws, regulations and ordinances.
