Summary:
The Wilkes Honors College of Florida
Atlantic University (FAU) invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Philosophy, starting in Fall 2025. This is a full-time
(9-month) tenure-track position with an average teaching load of five courses per year.
The Wilkes Honors College (WHC) is a separate
unit within FAU, with its own full-time faculty and a four-year, liberal arts and sciences curriculum that includes interdisciplinary
coursework, internship opportunities, study abroad programs, and a senior honors thesis. The WHC is located in Jupiter, Florida on
FAU’s John D. MacArthur Campus, an international hub for scientific research and host to the world-renowned Max Planck Florida
Institute for Neuroscience and The Herbert Wertheim UF Scripps Institute for Biomedical Innovation and Technology, as well as FAU’s
Stiles-Nicholson Brain Institute. In addition, FAU’s Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute is located in nearby Fort Pierce.
The WHC’s four-year curriculum is centered on the traditional disciplines in the liberal arts and sciences, with an emphasis on
critical thinking, independent study, community-based internships, and cross-disciplinary programs. Currently, the WHC enrolls about 675
honors students with a 15-to-1 student faculty ratio, on average. For more information, please visit www.honorscollege.edu.

Minimum Qualifications:
The minimum candidate qualifications are a
Ph.D. in Philosophy, and evidence of excellence in research, as well as undergraduate teaching. The committee will favorably view potential
for collaboration in the interdisciplinary teaching activities of the college, and experience in advising and mentoring undergraduate
students. While the area of specialization is open, current teaching needs in the College include history of ancient philosophy and
metaphysics.

National Association of Credential Evaluation (NACES), with an indication of the documents the evaluation was prepared from (official
transcripts, diplomas, dissertation abstracts) is required for the Provost’s credential file prior to the first day of employment.
