BBC Studios Natural History Unit (NHU) is the best-known producer of natural history content in the world – responsible for some of the most successful factual content of the past 10 years. With pioneering technology, unprecedented access, and innovative storytelling, we inspire audiences across the globe.
Our output includes everything from breathtaking landmarks (The Green Planet; Seven Worlds, One Planet; Dynasties; Blue Planet II; Planet Earth III), returning series (Big Cat 24/7), kids content (Andy’s Adventures and Deadly) and technically challenging live shows (Springwatch; Blue Planet Live), to Prehistoric Planet – the ground-breaking AppleTV+ Original, The Americas for NBCU, and Ocean Xplorers for National Geographic Disney+. Following on from the success of The Green Planet, BBC Studios NHU is embarking on an ambitious new production focussing on the natural history of the planets most successful animals – insects.
THE ROLE
We are looking for two Assistant Producers, enthusiastic about the subject matter, to work on this major project. The roles are for six months, one to start in March and one in May 2025.
You will need to be highly creative and organised with excellent storytelling skills, visual flair, and the ability to take an innovative and imaginative approach to delivering outstanding content. In particular, we require someone who has experience in directing behavioural sequences using macro photography, and who has an understanding and experience of advanced motion control systems and advanced visualisation techniques such as photogrammetry, focus stacking and SEM imagery.

Salary: £37,500 – £50,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
Start date: March – May 2025
Location: Office Base is Bristol with a requirement for frequent location at a Bristol studio and extensive periods working on location internationally. This is a hybrid role and when office based the successful candidate is able to balance office working with home working.
Interviews will be held wb 13th January 2025.
