Head Football Coach

The job requires a highly motivated individual dedicated to inspiring and leading young
student-athletes; must possess an intricate, working knowledge of the sport of football; position needs a high level of leadership potential
and energy; job requires an inordinate amount of care and concern for the success and overall well being of the student-athlete in the
classroom and on the playing field.

Oversee and maintain an athletically, academically, publicly, and financially successful
football program at Davidson College. Provide overall leadership and supervision to student-athletes and coaching staff in an academically
challenging environment. Foster an athletic program that is conducive and purposeful to the overall mission of Davidson College.

Job
Duties:

• Design, develop, and implement the overall philosophy and direction of the football program; delegate and manage specific
  responsibilities and activities of the football staff; oversee and coordinate day to day activities of program, staff and
  student-athletes.
• Implement an overall recruiting strategy designed to identify and recruit all viable prospects that can adhere to
  Davidson’s physical and intellectual challenges and admission requirements; coordinate efforts with the Office of Admissions to establish
  the academic viability of prospective high school student-athletes; delegate appropriate recruiting activities amongst staff.
• Assist on field and in classroom instruction of football coaching techniques and strategies; evaluate individual performances and
  provide leadership and instruction in areas of deficiencies for all members of program; advise assistant coaches with game plan strategy and
  daily practice preparation.
• Promote the overall program through personal appearances to the media, prospective student-athletes,
  and alumni groups; proactive in fundraising activities at the discretion of the Director of Athletics and Davidson Athletic Foundation;
  promote football program through community service and campus outreach.
• Counsel and mentor student athletes; create a supportive
  environment conducive to the overall well being of the student-athlete; counsel and assist team members in academic, disciplinary, and
  personal matters; monitor academic and social progress of all team members; consult with college personnel and faculty for resolution of
  problems as required.
• Ensure direct compliance with NCAA and Pioneer Football League regulations and specific Davidson guidelines
  and policies; ensure football staff’s adherence to NCAA rules and regulations as well as an adherence to Davidson College Athletics policy
  and overall mission of the institution.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree and at least five years of collegiate coaching
  experience with time spent as a coordinator; significant recruiting experience, preferably at a highly selective academic institution.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Experience in organized collegiate football, preferable in a highly selective, academic environment;
  good organizational and supervisory skills; ability to relate to student-athletes in a leadership role; good people skills.
