Baker College is seeking an Adjunct Faculty – Advanced Legal Writing course to join our St Francis School of Law in California!
St. Francis School of Law is a 100% online four-year JD degree program that provides a rigorous, practical academic curriculum taught by experienced faculty in an interactive, state-of-the-art online learning environment. St Francis is accredited by the Committee of Bar Examiners of the State Bar of California. St. Francis School of Law is a college owned by Baker College and all personnel information will come from Baker College.
This Adjunct Faculty position is for a legal writing professor who can teach basic computer-assisted legal research and writing. In the writing courses, students learn how to convey legal analysis of a problem in a written form that adheres to the conventions of the legal profession. Topics include sources of law and types of authority, secondary sources, case law, statutes, administrative regulations, legislative history, authority verification, and developing and implementing a successful legal research plan. In the Advanced Legal Writing course, students learn how to draft a trial level motion and an appellate brief and develop oral rhetorical skills, culminating with presentation of oral arguments in the final seminar.
The role involves teaching credits in alignment with the Faculty Workload Policy and revising, reviewing, or developing curriculum as necessary. Additionally, the position requires completing all mandatory professional development and training, as well as collecting and submitting the required assessment of student learning data. Participation in relevant campus and system committees, meetings, projects, and activities is also expected.
California Pay Transparency requires a pay range for all postings. The pay range for St. Francis School of Law adjunct faculty is $1,500 to $4,000 per course.
